Program Description

The Public History minor at Saint Michael’s College prepares students to apply historical knowledge and methods beyond the classroom in museums, archives, historic sites, digital platforms, and community organizations. Through interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on experiences, students learn how to interpret and present history to public audiences in engaging and accessible ways. The minor complements majors such as History, Education, and Art & Design, and equips students with practical skills in research, writing, exhibition design, and public engagement - valuable tools for careers in education, cultural heritage, nonprofit work, and government.
