Whether Biology majors are up to their knees in streams right next to campus or deep in the rainforests of Costa Rica, the Biology program at Saint Michael's provides diverse courses emphasizing hands-on learning. Students study Neurobiology, Tropical Ecology, Animal Behavior, Genetics, Evolution and more. Many majors are actively involved with faculty research programs during both the academic year and the summer. Others intern at places like the Vermont State Medical Examiner's Office or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and conduct and present professional-level research. Students have the opportunity for in-depth study in biology sub-disciplines such as health, conservation biology, cellular and molecular biology, and biology education.
