Program Description

At Saint Michael's College, the Philosophy and Ethics major emphasizes both the intrinsic value of philosophical inquiry and its practical applications. With a strong focus on ethics and reasoned dialogue, the program equips students to engage deeply with enduring questions while preparing them to address contemporary challenges such as environmental issues, technological change, and racial justice. Students learn to approach complex problems from multiple perspectives and to craft thoughtful, well-reasoned responses. These skills are broadly applicable across professions, and graduates pursue careers in law, public policy, education, technology, business, and the non-profit sector. Many continue on to graduate study and assume leadership roles. The program demonstrates that a foundation in philosophy not only fosters intellectual growth but also supports meaningful, impactful careers.
