Director: Professor Claudine Bedell

The mission of the Education Programs at Saint Michael’s College is to contribute to the advancement of culture through education, with an emphasis on creativity, curiosity, collaboration, reflection and social justice.

Graduate Programs in Education include the 36 credit Master of Education degree (M.Ed.), the 30 credit Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S. program), and the initial Vermont teaching license as well as additional endorsements. All programs are designed for educators interested in kindergarten through 12th grade teaching or administration in public and private settings. For the M. Ed. and C.A.G.S., students choose courses that follow a concentration in Arts, Curriculum, Literacy, School Leadership, or Special Education. For the initial Vermont teaching license, students choose Elementary, Middle, Secondary, Special Education, Art, or English Language Learner. The initial licensure program is embedded within the M.Ed. allowing students to obtain both simultaneously, which often requires more than 36 credits. For licensed teachers seeking an additional endorsement, students choose Director of Curriculum, Director of Special Education, Principal or Specialized Literacy Professional (PreK-12).

Saint Michael’s College seniors in good standing who have taken the required undergraduate education courses, but were not able to fit in student teaching, may complete a ninth semester student teaching through Graduate Education to gain the teaching license.

See Graduate Catalog for program requirements.
