Sociology and Anthropology Major

Required for the Anthropology Track:

 

And:

  • Any two additional courses in Sociology
  • Any three additional courses in Anthropology or courses listed below
  • An approved study abroad experience (up to two courses from abroad may be transferred in to replace some of the above required elective courses. Students in the Anthropology track must take at least two courses in Sociology at SMC.)

May count towards the three additional courses in Anthropology:

 

Optional:

Majors are encouraged to elect courses in psychology, history, economics, political science, global studies, gender studies and media studies and digital arts.

Required for the Sociology Track:

 

And:

  • Any two additional courses in Sociology or courses listed below
  • Any two additional courses in Anthropology (students in the Sociology track must take at least two courses in Anthropology at SMC)

 

 

Students in the class of 2017 and later are also required to take MA120, Statistics. (PS214 and PS216 may substitute.)

Students considering graduate work in Sociology might consider taking additional electives in psychology, history, economics, political science, and statistics.
