EC 301 - Economic Thought and Policy A survey of major schools of economic thought, methodology, methods, philosophy, principal developments, debates in economic theory and policies. Influential pre-classical thought: e.g. Greek, Islamic; followed by medieval, feudal, mercantilist. Emphasis on classical political economy– Smith, Ricardo, Mill, Marx et al. Logical positivism, marginalists; Neoclassical economics; 20th & 21st century: Keynes and macro, General equilibrium, evolutionary econ, econometrics, feminist econ; Contemporary: Eg., A.K. Sen, Ostrom. Provides the foundation for the breadth of economic thought and practice.
