Saint Michael’s College Graduate Programs in Education, in conjunction with the Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL), offers a State-approved program that leads to initial teacher licensure. Acceptance to both the MATESOL and Graduate Education Licensure program is required.
Requirements of ELL licensure admission are:
- A bachelor’s degree with successful completion of a liberal arts and science major.
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) of 3.0, and a G.P.A. of 3.0 in the major.
- Successful completion of the entrance interview.
- Evidence of successful work experience with children.

English Language Learner (ELL): Required Courses (46 credits)
The Program requires the completion of 46 credits: 21 credits in TESOL courses and 25 credits in Graduate Education and can be completed in a minimum of five full-time terms. Graduate Education Courses (25 cr.)
