Licensure: Secondary Education (Grades 7-12)

Saint Michael’s College has approved Secondary Education Licensure programs that lead to licensure in the following subject areas: English, Modern and Classical Languages (French, Spanish, and Latin), Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences), Social Studies, and Art.
Prerequisites for Admission to Secondary Licensure Program
- A bachelor’s degree with a major (or equivalent) in the subject area and/or the appropriate content of a “major” in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, matching the Saint Michael’s College concentration, and with appropriate supporting liberal arts general education courses.
- One thirty-credit “major” in a content area appropriate to secondary curriculum and as defined in Vermont regulations.
- Cumulative Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) of 3.0, and a G.P.A of 3.0 in the content area.
- Successful completion of the entrance interview.
- Evidence of successful work experience with children.
All licensure applicants must also apply to the M.Ed. or C.A.G.S. program. We now offer an additional endorsement (different content area or level) for students if requirements have been met. Please consult with your advisor.
