Courses (18 credits)

Licensed Vermont school teachers seeking to add an ESL endorsement may take the following classes (18 credits) to fulfill all academic competencies required by the Vermont Department of Education.  The coursework includes a 60-hour embedded practicum component to meet state-mandated student teaching requirements.

• GSL 502 - English Grammar Credits: 4 cr.

• Plus 20 hours 7-12 grammar practicum

• GSL 546 - K-12 Literacy for ESOL Credits: 4 cr.

• Plus 20 hours K-6 literacy practicum

• GSL 547 - ESOL in the Content Areas Credits: 4 cr.

• Plus 20 hours K-12 practicum

• GSL 612 - Bilingualism and Multicultural Education Credits: 3 cr.
• GSL 655 - Language Learning & Assessment for Children Credits: 3 cr.
