HI 395 - Crime & Society in Victorian Britain This seminar explores the rise of modern policing and considers the impact of gender, class, sexuality and race on definitions of crime and the treatment of offenders at home and in the Empire. It will also examine popular representations of crime, policing, trial and punishment in Victorian society.
