MU 253 - Global Issues in Music Exploration of how music functions within and across different cultures, with an emphasis on its contemporary political, economic, and religious uses. The course uses case studies from a number of societies to study how musical expression and the meanings it creates emerge and change, both in their original context and in a increasingly global community.
