HI 390 - Empires: 1492—Present A comparative study of European empires from 1492 to 1990, studying the way in which European empires shaped the global stage over five centuries, with a focus on Britain, Spain, France, Belgium and Germany. Emphasis is placed on the imperial encounter, understanding the impact on both European and native peoples.
Prerequisites: HI 105 or HI 107
