RS 315 - Eastern and Oriental Orthodoxies This course will be an introduction to the history, practices, and beliefs of the Eastern and Oriental Churches, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Slavic Churches, the Syriac-speaking Churches, and the churches of India and Persia. Focus will be on reading primary classic texts that shaped the theology, hagiography, and liturgy of the Orthodox tradition, with attention also to the development of the material culture associated with Eastern Christianity.
Prerequisites: Completion of LSC requirements in “Christian Traditions and Thought”.
