AL 304 - Sociolinguistics This course examines the ways in which variations in language use signal social class, gender, ethnic, and other cultural differences, along with societal attitudes towards such variations in usage. It seeks to identify the social functions of language and to explain why people speak differently in different contexts to convey meaning.
