M.Ed. in School Leadership with Additional Director of Special Education Endorsement

While working on a Master of Education or CAGS, students may choose to add an additional endorsement for Director of Special Education. To do so candidates must have three or more years of experience as a licensed special educator, speech language pathologist, school psychologist, school counselor, reading coordinator/specialist, principal, or superintendent.

Pre-requisite Courses (licensed special educators would not need)

GED 632 - Assessment of Students within General and Special Education Credits: 3 cr.
GED 633 - Legal and Professional Issues in Special Education Credits: 3 cr.

Director of Special Education Required Courses (25 Credits)

GED 511 - Fundamentals of Curriculum Credits: 3 cr.
GED 567 - Legal and Financial Management of Schools Credits: 4 cr.
GED 618 - From Assessment to Action: Using Data to Improve Student Learning Credits: 3 cr.
GED 621 - Supervision, Evaluation, and Teacher Development Credits: 3 cr.
GED 572 - School Leadership Credits: 3 cr.
GED 684 - School and Community Credits: 3 cr.
GED 688A - Leadership Practicum Credits: 6 cr. total over 3 semesters

To complete the M.Ed. in School Leadership, students will select eight credits in electives in addition to these two required courses:

GED 558 - Educator as Researcher Credits: 3 cr.
GED 699 - Capstone Seminar Credits: 3 cr.
