Pre-K-12 ELL Endorsement for Licensed Teachers

Licensed Vermont school teachers seeking to add an ELL endorsement may take the following classes (18 credits) to fulfill academic competencies required by the Vermont Department of Education. The coursework involves a 60-hour associated practicum component to meet state-mandated student teaching requirements. Please note: Endorsement candidates must also pass the Praxis II (ESOL) exam to satisfy state requirements.

• GSL 502 - English Grammar Credits: 3 cr.

Plus 20 hours grades 7-12 grammar practicum

• GSL 546 - K-12 Literacy for ELL Credits: 3 cr.

Plus 20 hours grades K-6 literacy practicum

• GSL 547 - ELL in the Content Areas Credits: 3 cr.

Plus 20 hours grades K-12 practicum

• GSL 612 - Bilingualism and Multicultural Education Credits: 3 cr.

• GSL 655 - Language Learning & Assessment for Children Credits: 3 cr.

• GSL XXX - Elective Credits: 3 cr.
