M.Ed. with Additional Endorsement in Director of Special Education

While working on your Master’s in Education, you may choose to add an additional endorsement for Director of Special Education. To do so you must have 3 or more years of experience as a licensed special educator, speech language pathologist, school psychologist or counselor or reading coordinator/specialist.

GED 633 - Legal and Professional Issues in Special Education Credits: 3 cr.

Director of Special Education Required Courses (22 Credits)

GED 511 - Fundamentals of Curriculum Credits: 3 cr.
GED 567 - Legal and Financial Management of Schools Credits: 4 cr.
GED 618 - From Assessment to Action: Using Data to Improve Student Learning Credits: 3 cr.
GED 621 - Supervision, Evaluation, and Teacher Development Credits: 3 cr.
GED 636 - Special Education Leadership Credits: 3 cr.
GED 684 - School and Community Credits: 3 cr.
GED 688E - Practicum: Special Education Leadership Credits: 3 cr.

Complete the M.Ed. in Special Education

To complete the M.Ed. in Special Education, students will select eight credits in electives in addition to these two required courses:

GED 558 - Educator as Researcher Credits: 3 cr.
GED 699 - Capstone Seminar in Graduate Education Credits: 3 cr.
