GED 581 - Social/Emotional Development and Individual Differences

This course supports the development of safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments that support and engage individuals with exceptionalities in meaningful learning activities and social interactions.  Participants examine commonly occurring emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and how they influence student learning.  Participants will develop an understanding of specific disorders that can serve to inform appropriate instructional strategies and interventions that motivate students to learn.  Particular emphasis will be placed on the development of targeted, evidence supported interventions that align with the universal core programs at a grade-appropriate level of instruction.  A cross-disciplinary team approach will be stressed to develop and implement positive supports to facilitate student learning.
