HI 353 - Presidential Elections A seminar that views US history through the lens of presidencies and presidential elections. From the era of George Washington to the present, it explores a number of topics related to running for and serving as president, including the evolution of campaign styles, the rise and decline of parties; the spread of democracy; the effect of questions about character, personality, peace, and the economy; the growth of television, the airplane, and the internet; and the role of the mass media.
Prerequisites: HI 101 or HI 103
